I might be a bit 'type A'--I have a strong need to organize. Let's face it, most people do not put their DVDs in alpha order. But is organizing really enough? Even if stuff is organized, do you have just too much of it?
A friend shared a book with me this spring (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up) & I learned about the KonMari Method for simplifying, organizing, & storing.
I was hooked--rather than trying to clean by ROOM, you organize by category.
Marie Kondo's Method is NOT about organizing, but asking yourself if that 'thing' brings you joy. Sounds dumb right?
I thought so too, but then I let it marinate for a bit; AND it made sense. Why keep stuff that causes you stress to keep track of as inventory? Why get frustrated when you cannot find something?
My search for finding my 'spark joy' started. I am slowing marching through Marie's stages of finding joy:
By favorite discovery, finding joy is making me a more conscious CONSUMER, its changing my buying habits....and in turn my saving habits. BONUS!
WHY are you talking about this on a Real Estate blog you ask? Well, when it comes to the moment, when you decide to list your house to sell....
what can you do to make it more presentable to buyers?
Just having a clean home is not enough, you need to 'stage' it. Staging means offering up the house so buyers can see its potential. Having clutter usually overwhelms buyers & hinders their ability to see what the space could become.
Help make your house listing a success, declutter.
If you do not know where to begin, ask your listing agent for suggestions on how to make your house showing 'sparkle' ready.
